Literacy Teacher at Holdeman Continuously Makes a Difference
Every day there are countless Tempe Elementary employees who work hard to make sure students are able to reach their full potential. These employees put kids first and make sure they have the tools they need to succeed.
Jessica Clark is Holdeman Elementary’s Move On When Reading (MOWR) Literacy Teacher who is a perfect example of someone who shows up ready to make the most of every school day.
Clark has been with Holdeman for over a decade and has racked up an array of experience working as a resource teacher as well as teaching first- and third-grades.
She has taken this experience and applied it to her current position as MOWR and continues to make a difference.
“Jessica works with the kids who need a bit of help,” said Holdeman Principal Eric Kadel. “She works so hard getting them caught up and she really makes a huge difference. Jessica is a big part of our team here at Holdeman and we’re so fortunate to have someone like her.”
Clark meets with small groups of kindergarten through third-graders who are falling behind with their literacy in the classroom. Throughout the week she works with the students on phonics, fluency, and reading.
“One of my favorite things about working as a literacy teacher is being able to see the immense transformation in the students I work with,” said Clark. “They go from a ‘I can’t do this,’ attitude to being more confident in their abilities and it never gets old.”
Clark isn’t the only one enjoying this progress either. She believes students’ excitement grows as they begin to work on and develop their skills.
“A lot of the time the students are a little reluctant to start working with me, but that quickly goes away after they start to notice themselves improving,” said Clark. “They want to get better and after awhile they start looking forward to seeing me!”
Thank you so much Jessica for everything you do for the students of Holdeman! Keep up the good work!
